I was knocked off my bicycle early in 2025 by a car not giving way at a roundabout. Luckily not an absolutely massive trauma but bad enough. Bicycle written off and a painfully and slow recovering fractured ankle that stopped me enjoying many parts of my life (including interstate travel, regular volunteer effort, reduced ability to exercise etc.). Insurance/replacement on my bicycle was eventually sorted via the drivers car insurance company (a whole other story). However, once I started looking dealing with the personal injury claim via the Insurance Commission (WA), something I have never had to deal with before, I became concerned that I was on my own without a good understanding of my rights and obligations.
